Berlin Fair 2009: July 13-18
with the 4-H Horse Show on July 10
"Great Times in 2009"
The daily events schedule has been updated for
2009. You will find many new and exciting activities for this year's fair. A
lumberjack show will debut on Tuesday and continue through the week. Barnyard
Express with Farmer John returns, as does Nick's Kids Show, the mechanical bull,
Whispering Pines animals, and much more.
Entry Information: It is very important that
you follow the new class entry information found in the 2009 Fair book. In order
to comply with new state requirements, department numbers have been changed. The
new Fair Book is now available by clicking on "entry info" to the left.
Premiums:
On May 5, 2009, Governor Granholm issued an executive order to eliminate
all state money supporting fair premiums. The order was approved by the state
legislature and put into effect immediately. It is not financially
possible for the fair to pay the premiums without the state assistance. So on
May 18, 2009, after much discussion of possible ways to pay premiums, the Berlin
Fair Board of Directors voted to eliminate all premiums for the 2009 fair.
Ribbons will continue to be awarded. All fair participants are urged to contact
their state legislators and the governors office to request fair funding be
reinstated.
